Fucking Rant
5:35PM on March 10, 2009

Is there ever a good time to post a negative criticism or comment? Just because someone leaves you a negative comment does that mean they are an asshole and hate your guts, or is it simply their current feelings on a particular post at that moment in time?

I'm getting pretty sick of all the people that whine and complain whenever anything negative is left on their pages or postings.  I don't intentionally set out to leave comments which will hurt someones feelings, but not everything posted on Rude is worthy of "5 stars" or "awesome" or any other euphemism that describes "thats hot" in my opinion.  So after I received a pic gallery shout in my email, I checked it out, and left a comment, which was my feelings on the material at that particular time. Well apparently the user was not liking my comment and decided to leave me a message on my Rude Page. Here is his message and my reply.

I am interested in what others are thinking about this subject and the idea that every-fucking-one has taken the PC ball and not only run with it, but fucking packed it up in a baby carriage, with a helmet, knee & elbow pads, and taken it on a fucking cross country trip.  All in the name of saving someone some hurt feelings, but sacrificing our right to free speech and dignity as top of the food chain. We as humans have always used negative and positive feedback to get stronger and produce better products and services. As I see it we are now in a state of reversal where no-one is allowed to say anything negative, yet we still want our lives to keep improving and growing at the rate which they always have, well IMO you cant have one without the other.

**Name left out on purpose**

do me a favor when you decide to start hating on other pp; work stay the fucc off my page. thanks. i give your work respect please do the same or just stay away

Dude, chill, I just didn't like that pic set. I AM ENTITLED TO MY OPINION. Its called a "Comment" Box, not a "ONLY POSITIVE REMARKS" Box. I usually don't leave to many comments, unless something either motivates me or I really like/dislike the post. Ive been around long enuf to get tons of negative and positive remarks regarding my material and I don't go flying off the handle cause someone doesn't like my particular posting and I just chalk it up to someone not liking it and move on.

You will never please everyone with your posts. So just live with it . Just because I, or anyone else posts a negative comment, doesn't mean we don't like other material you post. I am soooooo tired of people on rude complaining when someone posts their opinion on something/someone and the material owner having a hissy fit over a fucking comment.

Not every fucking post on this site kicks ass and deserves positive comments, some times just some simple suggestions on a post will be viewed as negativity by the poster, and then there are some that I feel are just crap and I feel that I should be allowed to say so as long as I don't get personal. This fucking country is so fucking Politically Correct anymore that any kind of criticism or negative comment towards someone is NEVER allowed cause it mite hurt someones feelings. I don't go making comments that are purposefully intended to hurt someones feelings, but I also don't feel like I should have to curb my own feelings when it comes to a particular posting. Most of the material on Rude is great, but doesn't necessarily provoke enuf feelings to leave a comment. So in some sense, be happy you got me motivated to even leave a comment.

PS the comment i left said the following"
"Playboy bunnie??? Kinda skanky if you ask me"

Since I also do not know the photo in question...I can't say if what you commented was harsh or accurate. Having said that ~ I'll put my two cents worth in for the hell of it. I know that some of my friends and buddies often ask for opinions etc...BUT, personally, I would take the time (if I didn't already know) to determine if a photo....since that's what happened to set you off..lol...or whatever content was of their wife/girlfriend or husband/boyfriend, someone special or important to them or not! I wouldn't feel as reticent to express my opinion about pics of some stranger. I WOULD keep my mouth shut and any nasty thoughts (although, I don't really have those) to myself if I either couldn't really get a sense of who the person in the pics was to the poster or if it was obvious that it's someone meaningful to them. I agree with phoen...that what's put here for "entertainment" should be open to any sort of comment someone would like to make. If the comment that you leave is an obviously personal statement, then YOU can't bitch or complain because someone took it personally! I'm also sorry to say it but I don't see the comments of my peeps on RUDE as the last bastion of free speech...lol...of COURSE the site itself is something altogether different. I don't think, though, that because we're supporting a site that's open and very sexual (i.e "threatening" to all those right wingers out there, who probably secretly post wearing a disguiise as they jerk off in dark corners from rerouted, difficult to trace computers) that gives anyone the right to be a jack-ass in the name of "free speech." I DO understand and agree with you to a point, don't misunderstand. I think that you know as well as I do though, the difference between (as you yourself stated....) commenting in such a way that it is a statement about your feelings about the material at that moment in time OR just being crude and tactless and blurting out whatever pops into your mind. A little self-censoring can be a GOOD thing!! One last thing (and then, I'm gonna need help getting down off MY soap box...whew...great workout for my quads but I could get a nosebleed up here...heehee...) you also mentioned that you feel it's not possible to grow and improve without both the negative and the positive. While I am totally aware of what you mean by that, I can say from personal experience, it IS possible to improve, to become better and better without hearing the crappy, thoughtless "negative" comments. I actually believe that a person calls it "constructive criticism" when they just want to say shitty things while making themselves out to be some sort of real "help." That's complete bullshit....as far as I'm concerned (and depending I GUESS on how one goes about it?) "constructive criticism" is just a PC phrase for "And-now-I'm-gonna-say-something-really-wicked-and-pissy-but-because-I'm-calling-it-this-and-smiling-when-I-say-it-you-can't-get-mad-at-me!" And when someone pukes all over you, you can throw glitter on it, shine spotlights on it and play a fanfare but it's still just....puke. Perhaps if we all learned to BE MORE KIND to one another the world will continue to grow and advance but in a new and better way. It really looks to me like what we've been doing so far and what has been done in the past didn't work so well...look at where we're headed. A change in the way we interact with one another might be a worthwhile consideration and it might actually change things! And now..I am SO very sorry to have gone on and on (and ON!!) I didn't mean to ramble but you bring up a lot of good points and I guess I just got all swept up in the rant! Ain't it cool that we both have the right to speak our minds?..lol...

if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. people are crazy these days and you don't want to do, or say, something that will come back to bite you in the ass

I have to agree with you about the whole politically correct rant, however.....Perhaps "skanky" was a little harsh. I haven't seen the picture so I can't say anything about that. Peace out.

hope this doesn't comeback to bite me in the ass but here it goes negative comments are good shows us where we can do better but the comment "Playboy bunnie??? Kinda skanky if you ask me" OK you called her skanky it was a personal comment and probably felt to them as a personal attack, Thing is we have to separate whats said on here to whats said face to face we post for the world to see and not everyone likes the same it is not he place for the easily shattered ego there are gonna be days people don't like what you did go with it nobody gets it right every time there not a hater just because they didn't like what you did three options A) ignore it B) delete the comment C) get off rude if you don't like it. In the real world people tend to not say what they think as much for fear of getting smacked in the mouth but maybe that's because it would be inappropriate to say those things in the first place people tend to be a lot braver about voicing there opinion behind the safety of there computer screen then they are in real life and tend to be a tad meaner with what they say all for negative and positive feedback its the personal attacks we don't like *** OK getting of soapbox now :) *****

Comeon.....I was also raised by my parents the same way, "if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say anything at all". Yet this was to be in reference to a person. Never did my parents object when I said "that movie sucked" or "that restaurant was horrible", for my opinion, whether it be positive or negative, was just as worthy and valid as my bother's, fathers, or strangers opinion which mite be the exact opposite. So, this then comes down to how you view a Rude page. Is it a true reflection of the user thus thier Rude page has just as much value as them the human being? Or is a Rude page just a social service you provide to others like you, which to me would make it a form of entertainment and has every right to my critisim. If you look at a rude page the way I do, which is that a Rude page is just a form of them putting themselves in the public domain as entertainment then the rule of "dont say anything unless you have something nice to say" just doesn't apply here. IMO

You know not all people have the same opinions..If you put your shit on here to get a comment or vote you are putting yourself out there to have negative reactions. Put your big girl panties and deal with what you get like an adult. Don't go making a mountain out of a mole hill because you got your panties in a bunch over somebody else's opinion, because that is all it is an opinion. If you don't want people to give you a negative opinion don't put material on rude.

i feel that all the stuff posted isnt worthy of a 5 star salute or a good comment but whatever happened to if u have nothing nice to say then dont say anything at all? Yes we do have a right to freedom o speech but my mom and dad always taught my sister and I that sometimes you have to think Is it nice is it true and is it necessary???? I live by that!

Seems that so many people on rude want to argue, and twist things that someone say's alot of the time. We are not perfect, so with that being said, why would someone think they had perfect vids, blogs are pics all the time, why do some of them think they have a hater if they get less than perfect! I know exactly what you are saying. Rude has some wonderful people on this site, as well as really ruthless people..BTW this is a great blog
