No its been over cast here as well. But I do have some pictures I took a number of years a go when I was up north that I know some of you have seen. As it is I'm way north of many of you as it is living up in Canada. So from where I live we can see them pretty good at times, but nothing like when I was way up north like when I took the pictures. If you haven't seen them and interested I posted them on my page in 2010.......

I must ask you Mr. Bandaids how was it to be there first hand? I know for people who see stuff like this everyday wouldn't be excited, but I would just like to know your take when you first saw the lights.
-Thank you

Nice Pics Bands... I wish i saw that... cuz stuff like that or meteorite showers... or even a clear starry night are always inspirational to me
Just shows - if one takes the time and effort to slow down and look at what they are missing - they might find more than what they see ;-}

The first time I saw them was as a little boy when my folks had a farm in Alberta Canada. I remember my mom and dad putting me in the truck between them. We drove out into the middle of a field. I could see the lights in the sky as we drove but it was nothing compared to when he turned out the light. I can still remember who awe struck I was. I also remember my mom telling me to shut my mouth lol. Yes its an amazing site to see as a you boy with an imagination beyond you wildest dreams!
I had seen them may times over the years from within I'll say 100 miles from the Canada/US boarder. But that doesn't even come close to what I saw when I was way up in northern Ontario...not even close!

It's clear today and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The Northern Lights is something I have never seen. Chances are good with recent sun activity. Light pollution isn't a problem, the north west winds over the lakes are.

Looking out the window. Clear over head, nothing but clouds over the lake...not good.

I'm still clouded over so I can see a thing. But the ham radio bands are getting interesting so I am getting some fun out of this anyway.
From Spaceweather.com: GEOMAGNETIC ACTIVITY: Earth's magnetic field is reverberating from a CME impact during the early hours of Jan. 22nd. The hit compressed Earth's magnetic field, briefly exposing some geosynchronous satellites to solar wind plasma, and disturbed the ionization structure of Earth's upper atmosphere. As night falls on Jan. 22nd, Arctic sky watchers are reporting bright auroras in response to a polar geomagnetic storm (Kp=5). Please check http://spaceweather.com for images and updates.

The clouds are moving in, but I will step outside later. This latest flair is supposed to be a direct hit on earth.
