These are not just for the high price payers anymore...
Black Friday showed me there are alot of "Deals" and I got a couple Pandigital Tablets for under $100 - but...
You have to be careful what Driod ver you have - over 2.2 is a must with many of the higher priced models well into version 3+ now...
I also became aware that the app bar can be a real mess in various droid mobile browsers - Dolphin is a really good 1 - but I read they store data... Who knows what that is about but its something to think about... Opera mini seems be to good over all....
Where is all this leading...
I think it might be nice to expand the games section so we can upload apps that we find helpful - because if you don't have an approved device the Droid App market is not gonna let you download from there and you have to use a secondary market... but once you have it - you can install the download...
Not these lower version of Droid - don't let you stream webcams nor run java - they are great for email, blogging and general web-surfing - I use them on my mi-fi and there are many wi-fi hotspots for free around...
Security might be an issue - there are apps that scan and check - again something i'd like to upload and share as they are hard to find - and there are many fun and useful apps - which really is the best part of a tablet... some will play the youtube vids thru the app rather than depend on the droid flash - maybe someone will make an app for RUDE... Be a while till I figure that out but... it is on my list to do ;-}}}
The whole going thru Brazzers mobile login... it is way to much BS - the username doesn't work and you end up clicking 3 times to get to the full site login anyway - shorten that plz ;-}}
In the end - the $60 and $90 black friday specials will be kid gifts for the apps or turnout to be Picture frames that let you surf the web...
I still have a $130 one I hope will be as promised a Flash ready unit... otherwise I'm liking netbooks more for these things we do here as they are cheaper and lighter but yet more regular op systems like on a laptop...
But, with these under $200(many under $100) prices and the good quality - with cams front and back... it really is something that needs to be addressed in future design... it just will expand the reach and options we as Rudies have...
We gonna watch and be watched and produce and upload mobile-ly ;-}}}
So, let's adjust a bit to the mobile market please ;-}

I will never buy one, in fact I turn my cell phone off most of the time, and refuse to text.
I hope it doesn't happen, but if I have to read a book on one of those things, I will stop reading.

I have to go with Rudy on this one. The distraction from owning one of these is too great for the casual user, let alone a dedicated perv such as myself. It's bad enough web sites need to be redesigned to fit into a 3 inch screen.
Just my .28 chip.

Nope - I was going to buy a ipad till I found out they dont have flash - whats the point then - I cant do what I want to do because it doesnt have flash - and with regards to phone Im with the others - a phone should be just a phone - its too much of a distraction on the move otherwise = moving on

A number of years ago the BBC produced an excellent 4 hour documentary called "The Century of the Self". Search for it and you will find it. Glenn Beck stole information from this documentary for one of his Fox News enlightening blackboard lectures. I commented about it in my sarcastic way when another member brought it up in one of my threads in the Pit.
In summary it's about how Psychoanalysis, and other branches of Psychology created marketing, and public relations. This tool has been used by business to convince the public to buy things they don't need.
I suggest viewing it and you will say to yourself...WTF!!

Most people say Steve Jobs was an "innovator". I guess, but I think most mistake the word for "inventor". He invented nothing, but was brilliant at marketing and public relations.
The guy could reinvent the toilet and people would stand in line at his Apple stores to buy it.

good point MD just to new people - i get why they have such frustration now ;-}
Chesty - Ipads are expensive - but Droids - do play flash - some are expensive.... many are cheaper now and will go down further as they evolve with even more power...(the cheapest ones have droid versions b4 2.2 and that is not good for streaming from what i've read and experienced - although there are apps that still stream tube vids etc...
To those who refuse it - not cuz it is expensive... just cuz.... heard all that before from people who refused to learn about computers ;-}} To you - when you try one and it's at the right price and the right quality for what you like to do... you'll be amazed what you have been missing out on.... Tablet screens are not 3 inches btw -- size does matter ;-}}
Don't get me wrong - it has its time and place - but i don't use a desk top much at all now... I use a laptop... will use a netbook and a tablet more n more now... combined with unlimited 4g mobile wifi - it is light and efficient and the apps for a droid are very nice - even more so than what a lap top has available - so many are free too and useful....
And to the book reader - those books have a value because you are at the end of an era - the cost of printing things will now limit it's use because just like photography... Kodak is no more a company who prints pictures - that era is over in the digital world of today...
Things are finally going into fast mode as we get away from mechanical weight and get to the fully electronic stage of computing... now it gets smaller - yet bigger... faster and lighter and ever more part of life...
As for Jobs... he was an entrepreneur - just like Gates - except Gates knew who he was from the start and Jobs was naive but greedy and understood how to acquire from inventors those things they invented but didn't understand how their piece fit into the puzzle -- Jobs put the puzzle together and released various versions - each just a bit better than the last...
Marketing is an artful science - it is not just psychology but that is a part of it... creating a desire is 2 fold - there has to be an associated need and you mold it into a new want - that is way more than a cold science can do... you need the warmth of human understanding to link it all together... Freud and the other psych babblers had good points - each declared their own to be the best ideology... but marketing takes a bit from 1 mixes it with another and adds the human touch to the promotion - and if you get it right you get demand -that is if the price, quality and delivery are right...then that wanted demand becomes a fulfilled need...
And yes that is how we got "Breakfast to be labelled and known as the most important meal of the day" - to sell more bacon... Dr's agreed on it... Marketing - it creates demand and fulfills needs and it has made US the biggest market place and given us the innovation skills Which we now have to make in China... for even more pit political reasons - fully discussed there ;-}}
But to each their own ;-} I like the touch screen Tablet for what it is... and with the cost coming down on them and their power increasing... even the era of the laptop might soon be history too ;-}
Personally, I do see the day when all this becomes a pair of glasses then contacts... and the computing power and speed will only be limited to the minds using the machine ;-}} You can't stop the future but with high tech - there is also High Touch... and that's a total other discussion ;-}}
This one is about creating a more inviting format for Tablet and smart phone users - a market which is growing fast as the product becomes more fitted to the users wants and the ability to afford the units and the services - be they wi-fi or service plans - this market is growing fast - just wait and see the sales figures on these products this year... it might be worth the effort to make a few changes for them - which in all reality - won't change a thing for those Rudies who refuse to use this technology.... Every hour a find a few more apps that are very amazing & i'd like to share and they are free.... Maybe we can start a RUDE Marketplace ;-}}

Yeah, right, funny how you defended the concept when you thought it was Glenn Beck's idea.
My wife recently went to a movie theater with her girlfriend to see the latest Vampire move, Twilight or whatever. She said through the entire movie all you could see was the little screens of cell phones. Also, said her girlfriend sent 3 text messages to her husband. WTF for and did you go to see the movie or stare at your cell phone?
No thank you, I refuse to be a slave zombie to some product I don't need.

Rudy keep that Beck BS in the Pit - you have enough problems trying to prove any point there but I did make the exact same point in the pit as I did now and not even Beck claimed it was his idea - he in fact documented his sources fully ;-}
and again... this is nothing about changing your desire to use technology - it is about catering to those who are or might be thinking about giving it a try -
- it would not change how you see the page we are on... it would change how they see it... That is my point ;-} Make it better for those who step up to mobile connectivity and more will watch and be watched ;-}
