I have been thinking on hertiage lately after the death of my Father. See I look white and most people identify me as so but the truth is I am a mutt, My father was considered black even though he was mixed. I have friends who have less black blood then I do but because of genes they are identified as black... I would love to see the days where color and race have to bases but I deal with it everyday from both sides of the fence. I hear the N word and I cringe, stating I hate the word. I always get on people no matter what color or race they are for using that word. My reason is easy, My Grandmother who was black, drilled it into me that any word that puts a race down is a bad word so even cracker gets me upset.
I am not big on inflicting my beliefs on others but what do you do when you watch races still going at each other and you are a part of both? I also don't like PC, common sense says that you say a persons name and not their race. I am not an African American, I am not a Causian, I am not a Native American. I am Shadoe.... It is an easy concept but I don't find many that can keep that in mind when they talk. I catch people I love even using words that hurt me but who am I to correct them...Why can't people just correct themselves? I would like opinions not a war. This is not a Race thing, it is a people thing.

America is a place were mixed Race is not a bad thing... We have been called a Melting pot of Cultures and races...
Not sure I agree with that - except there is most definitely an American Cultural Lifestyle that mixes into the Cultures that come here and is noticed when they return to their homeland.
But we are not really a Melting Pot because we enjoy the added Culture that Foreign Culture brings to US... it enhances all our lives to experience other peoples Cultures...
But many places are very threatened by American Culture - based on ease and convenience, that they fear it will overpower their heritage and people will forget their own Culture... So the Melting Pot is what they fear.
That if we all become a melting pot we will be a bland monotone shade of gray... with little sunshine to pass on to future generations...
In a way I understand that, so I value other races their cultures and their heritage and enjoy when I get to experience it without leaving America to do it.... That is something we should develop more of in our Culture - an understand of how the World experiences life - way different from how we do, but still very full filling.
When you see races going at each other and you are mixed of both of them... show them the like ground and what we have in common... so their ideals of superiority are defeated by realization we are all people, the same even if we look or act a bit different... We are all similar - We are all People.

I know where you're coming from. My sister dates a "mixed black man" and lost his child. Our family raised all kinds of hell because of his color and the fact that she was going to have his baby. Due to the stress that caused and her not listening to the doctor she miscarried.
Personally, I see it like this. Whether you're black, white, red, pink, or purple it doesn't matter. You get up and put your pants on the same way I do every morning, breathe the same air i breathe, put up with the same daily bullshit. Color should mean nothing. If you are a good person, take care of those you love, and do your part for society who the fuck am I to judge.
People who play the race card are uneducated and will never get true fulfillment out of life. White men went to Africa and enslaved the black man. True. A white man also freed the slaves(black men/women/children). White men made life hell for the black man to succeed in life by segregation. True. Martin Luther King and several other black men and women took a stand and got equality for the black man.
Look at the headlines world-wide. Women and children are being sold into slavery and prostitution everyday, regardless of their race. Life hasn't really changed as far as that goes. I'll never understand why people make race an issue. It's a fact of life, get over it. No one race is better than the other. Take one person from every race on Earth and cut them on the palm. What happens? They bleed. What color do they bleed? Red. In reality, we really aren't that different.
Thus why I said anyone who plays the race card is uneducated. Plus....if you want to get real technical and believe in the Bible....we are all one big happy family. People began by the seed of Adam and the eggs of Eve. The New Testament describes Christ as having hair like wool. Hmmm, correct me if I'm wrong but that tells me that Christ would be a black man, yet he is portrayed in many places as a white.
Just my thoughts on the matter, scattered as they are.

Arabs made some good money in the slave trade. Later, whites decided to get rid of the middle man, found it more profitable.

I know all about the history of where my genes come from but I am not talking about the past, I am talking about now. Why would a black person use Nigga... When it derives from the N word and why would a White man use Cracker? Both words are hurtful even when used in the same race.
A well known fact is that I am by no means a Christian but I have been told I hold closer to the belief then a lot of Christians. I beleive Jesus and others who came before and after him all carried the same message, "Love one another" But we as a people do not hold this dear nor do we follow it everyday. If we did there would be no war, there would be no race conflict. For a message that is so simple I have yet to find a country, culture or church that can follow the main thing everyone wants. I do not know of one person in this world who does not want love, happiness or peace in their daily lives but these are the same things that most of us take for granted, abuse and never truely understand. Why would you do ANYTHING to another that you would not want done to you?

if christ had hair like wool, technically i believe he would be the decendant of a sheep. but anyway when it comes to the whole matter of slavery, many people are quick to point out that the "white man" raided africa for slaves and many blacks(i refuse to use the term african american cause you were born in this country so fuck you.. your an american point blank) constantly remind white folk of this fact. well guess what people, the irish were used as slaves long before africans, so dont feed me that my people were used as slaves bullshit. i ought to know, because ive done the research and i have an ancestor that came to this country as a slave.

Slavery has gone on since time began... it has nothing to do with race... it has to do with the ideal of Superiority... One class is Superior to another, because they have the power to enforce it.
This is very relevant to today, because you should understand the extremes from whips and chains to indentured servitude - from working for a mining Company that pays you in mining money to be able to only buy at the company store. pay the company rent on the company house....
They are all forms of slavery - not having the freedom to do as you will nor the opportunity to advance... being forced to repay family debt by working for someone else instead of for your own goals...
Do ya get why I say now is a good time to define for yourself what slavery is and understand what it is that is going on now.... I hope so ;-}

Damn. Some people can read between the lines. This is a topic where you have to put your personal feelings aside to discuss logically. Evidently, there are very few people that can do that.
I was using history to help prove a point. I know my history very well. I wasn't disregarding any race/culture/whatever intentionally. Just used the ones that popped into my head first. If you were offended then you need to go back and reread what was written, otherwise grow the fuck up. If you can be a mature adult and discuss this then post on...otherwise STFU.

It's a matter of choice. Some choose not to see things from another's POV. Just as some choose to continue use certain racial slurs to control another or keep them in a place where they feel chained. Thus the reason I brought up slavery.
We have all used words to hurt others and if anyone denies that then they're not worth the time it takes to hear the denial. You also have to keep in mind that some use it as a source of empowerment. For example.....turbo walks up to benluvswhitebooty and says," Wat up my nigga?!" ben responds in kind with, "Not much nigga. How's it hangin'?' In this sense it isn't to hurt the other, but a way to express friendship. You have to keep the word in context of how/when/where/why it was used. It would be different if I walked up to ben or turbo and said,"you are nothing but a nigger. Get the fuck away from here." or some such.
Yes the words are offensive, but not necessarily to everyone in every situation. It's no different than looking at me and calling me a bitch or a whore. Call me a bitch and I'll agree with you. Call me a whore and I'll break your jaw. Although both terms have been applied to me simply because I am a part of this site.
It's a state of mind. Some of us are mature about it, tell those who use it to refrain from using the words around us or don't come back. Then there are those who take offense to it and start a fight that will never truly end and should have been avoided. Like I said, if you can't put your personal feelings aside to think it through then you're no better than the person who offended you to begin with. It takes a bigger person to take it in stride and walk away, than it does to run your pothole and keep trouble stirred up.
Edited to add:
I will say again....I used ben and turbo as examples to prove a point. That isn't the way I've ever seen them behave nor have I ever spoke to them in that manner. They are two wonderful, black men that I am very close to and who are very opinionated.
