final fantasy the spirits within was rather interesting. alot of people hated it saying it wasnt truly a ff film cause it wasnt based on any of the games, but if u think about it. none of the games were even a sequel until ff x2

people didnt hate it because it wasnt based on the games. they hated it because there was nothing that connected it to the games. and it was way more sci-fi and hardly any fantasy. the games have a pretty good balance of sci-fi and fantasy.
the games might all have different stories and characters, but they had common themes and ideas that linked them.
as for others:
the recent prince of persia movie is one of the better ones.
and i liked double dragon. and the first mk movie.
