Instant Messengers - and why I hate them :-)

Yes I have one of the IMs - and no I won't hand out my ID, sorry.
So -- I get my computer up this morning, everything is loading up, including the messenger. In between checking my rude page and message, as well as bringing up one of my editing programs, and getting coffee someone sends me a message. I finish what I am doing, and settle down to editing - that is when I respond back.
So the guy is pissy - says I must be too busy with my other friends.  uh -- no, but whatever asshole - now you are on the ignore list.
I just don't get it -- I don't understand where the idea comes from that I am waiting for your message. I try to say hi to everyone - but that shit just don't happen sometimes - not that I am slighting anyone in particular - I just get busy and can't chat.
*shrug*
I really shouldn't let it annoy me - but I still haven't worked through my first cup of joe
