on women, some history... pt 1

In earlier times... women were looked at as:

Property (a possession)... In many countries to this day... not only is the marriage arranged but the brides' family was to give money, goats, gold, silver, whatever the husband would want as a dowry/ bribe, so that the husband would accept her, because they are giving these things to him... not for her to live comfortably but so that he will tolerate her. That's my thought...

A burden... female children in China (Mao se Tung era, which is very recent...) we drown directly after birth, to the extent that, to no avail signs were posted at the rivers 'please no drowning of baby girls here'. Every morning the people were greeted by a sea of tiny bodies on the water. Why ???

The Mao se Tung regime (communist- believe in the bare minimum, no frivolity. No one person is better than the next. So they should have just what they need. Work your job & that is it. They tore down all the trees... no flowers, no color, that meant grey uniforms... nothing to make you think, create, be happy. He also decreed that you may have only one child per household)

(Now we know that there are the vast disparity between females & males in the world is due to stress & illness. At the point in human gestation where the sex is determined... If the mother is stressed or unwell it is much more likely that a girl will be produced. What if we had known that a couple of centuries ago ???)

Therefore, you cannot afford a big family... & in Chinese culture if the family has a boy, he works the family business. He marries & the new wife comes to live with the family... If you have a girl, she works what she can. When she marries, she leaves to live with her husband & you have nothing.

An embarrassment... King Henry the eighth was hard pressed to produce a male heir to the throne. He married & produced several female children...

The tragedy that ensued (him loping off the heads of his wives, including Anne Bolin, so that he could marry again & mate again...) was because the Pope & the Catholic church said that divorce was against god.

How else do you get rid of this wife & marry another ??? He decreed that it was the queens' choice not to give him a male heir. i.e. she is disrespecting the throne, reaking havoc with the country & should die.

Fun fact (sarcastic) In the Viking days... If you raped a virgin girl, you didn't go to jail, have property taken away, have extremities loped off. No, your punishment by law was to marry your victim, supposedly rape her from now on, well, until death do us part... hilarious !!! And what a punishment that must have been...
