PROSTITUTES Vs CAM GIRLS

Excuse and forgive me for the confrontational title of this Blog, of course it’s not a contest, everybody in this industry plays it how they see fit without judgement or ridicule (yeah right! ), or that’s how it should be. Let me explain….
Since I’ve been on Rude I’ve noticed a double standard that to me personally seems at best absurd, and at worse disrespectful and abusive, not to mention illogical. This is that some ladies here (not all by any means but many, from what I can see) feel that they are perfectly legitimate in disrespecting prostitutes. This despite being in the amateur adult entertainment industry themselves, they are quick to use terms like ‘ho’ ‘whore’ etc etc when speaking about these women.
Those terms are disrespectful no matter who you are levelling them at (unless done in a humorous way of course). I won’t go into the human trafficking angle and terrible oppression many prostitutes go through, it is awful beyond words, but that is for another conversation.
What I am talking about is women who CHOOSE to make a living selling their body for sex in the REAL world (not behind a computer wall). My questions are, does that make these ladies a legitimate target for hate here at Rude? Do girls and guys who regularly use the Rude platform to make money or even just for sexy fun have the right to then turn round and blatantly disrespect these women who are out there doing what they do? Hell, I’ve even read posts on the Rude Message Boards where some are ready to play the holier than thou card and casually dish the hate re girls who are simply promiscuous. Who are you to judge?
Your honest thoughts and perspectives on this would be much appreciated. Feel free to give me a run for my money if you think I got it all wrong

I really think working ladies of the night have a bad rep! No one says a word about the high end call girls that don't walk the streets so I say leave them all alone. They are not killing people just having sex how is that a crime for jail??? Oh yeah it is not taxable. SMH |

I had to revisit this blog just to see what additionl comments were made. Levity you missed somne of what I said in my initial post. I may have put a lot of emphasis on the money, However, you missed my point about having a ball ahd turning something I have a lot of fun doing into something to make a profit. So yes the money is good but I have fun as well. With or without Rude my bills will be paid contarary to some people's belief. But there is nothing wrong with a little extra income to enjoy. |

As many do not understand . Not all prostitutes are pimped,nor drug addicts, nor promiscuious. They are business women. Most are what most refer to as call girls. XX stars call sessions privTES TO AVOID THE BAD REP. No matter what most people do not understand the hobby. I know most ladies who offer their time for money may be called whatever you pick. Hooker,Whore, Hoe, but many ladies who offer their bodies for free do much more then working girls. I have been on swing parties trust. some stuff I have never done for money on film are done by the same ladies who judge working girls. I would love nothing more than for all sex workers to get equal respect. A large part of what makes prostitution unsafe is the stigma against it. Were the trade legalized and regulated, women in that position would be able to get regular STD testing, be more able to report abuse without fear of reprisal or getting locked up themselves.
I think that stigma is a large part of the reasons that many cam girls will verbally denigrate prostitutes... they want to draw a firm line between what they do and what the working girls do, with the cam girls firmly on the side of what is right and respectable.
Little side story: I have a good friend who found herself incarcerated in a jail in Las Vegas. (Long story, but it had to do with a 7 year old bad check and some bad record-keeping on the Sheriff's part.) She did an amazingly cool thing in the 2 months she was in jail. She's an adult webmaster, and spent a lot of her time there talking to women who were in on prostitution charges and teaching them about the cam world.
Camming is, unarguably, safer, more profitable and allows more control of your life than street prostitution ever could. My friend did a real good thing. |

MzBoo-Tay you make some very interesting points. I don't know if Steel had a touch of decent when referring to girls on Rude who are 'just in it for the money' but this is a view I've heard a few times on the message boards. Personally I don't like the premise that because you are doing this for the money it's wrong, it a service like any other, people should get paid, and if that is the motivation so be it. What I do think aswell though is, if you are only in it for the money, and don’t derive a lot of enjoyment out of it too, then you might become quite jaded by it quite quickly. Mind you, big bucks might in and of itself keep your motivation and enthusiasm up. I don’t know. It would be interesting to hear some other views on that angle, I might start another blog on that. Rodo, you say you 'prefer' prostitutes. That is an interesting take on my question, you've gone with my tongue in cheek agenda on this. But now you’ve raise it, is paying to fuck a real life woman in the flesh 'better' then paying for online sex with a cam girl, it's got to be hasn't it?!?! Though obviously less safe. Mistress Shadoe, your story brought tears to my eyes. It is so true how people look down upon people in some situations. They have no idea of that person's story. Eberyone has one. And sometimes a kind word or listening ear could make the difference for the better in someones life. I'm so glad to hear that your care and concerne made the difference in that young woman's life. Mistress_Shadoe's that is so good of you to share that story, it shows the human side very starkly. This young woman had gone through so much, no one knows the story behind any of us do they. I hope I get from your story that doing something that our natural society-conforming instincts would tell us not to do, such as simply talking to this perfectly lovely young woman, is what we need to do more of. The feedback is much appreciated All, thank you, and I am happy to see, though I wasn't taking it for granted, that the consensus is of a similar opinion to me. That is good to learn. Queen you've given a perspective that I hadn't even considered, yes why does there have to be a judgement value either way, it's all so hypocritical. Hypocrisy is one of the things that most annoys me in life I think, that and injustice.
LadyPhoenix yes I agree we are most definitely all entitled to our opinion, but to be in this industry oneself, want respect for your choices in making money and having fun, and in almost the same breath put down another group in the same industry, it cannot be right, my values cannot accept that as right. For me if you do that it means you must have deep issues with yourself too, which you defer my putting down another group. Steel I agree, the fact that many prostitutes aren’t doing it by choice, be it economical or that they are actually being forced into this field and suffer terribly, that to my mind is a reason to respect and show even more empathy, not to ridicule and insult.

I can't say that I've ever really given much thought to this and didn't even know it was an issue here on rude but I guess my one comment would be, everybody's gotta make a living and who are we to judge what someone else does to make their living. Especially when the line is so thin in what some do professionally that others do for recreation. |

Depends on who you ask, I suppose we all have a right to our "opinion". Yes it makes them a "target" when the people "aiming" (cam girls) believe they are better than the next (prostitute). Leavy, I just wanted to leave a small story from my life, A few years ago I found myself living above a street prosistute. At first I was not sure how to be with her as a neighbor but as I would walk out of my front door to find her "working" the corner close to the apartment, I got to wondering why she had chosen to do this job that is held so low in society. I am blunt and curious which sometimes gets me into trouble, So I approached her one day to find out more about her. I introduced myself and started the mere pleasantries I use with everyone. I don't know if I surprised her with my friendliness or if she was just not used to being treated as an equal. (I had seen others in my building be cruel to the point of spitting at her) I was not there to judge her or to try and help her out of a terrible situtation. I was just there to listen and maybe have a better understanding of her. Our talks went from pleasant to me asking her questions which she answered readily. My main question of course was : Why? She explained it was all she ever knew, She had been raped at a young age, But then again so had I and I was not working the street corner. It was after her rape is what made her different than me, She had no one that cared what had happened to her, Whereas I had two parents that had my back and we prosecuted the man that hurt me. No one cared if she took her next breath and yet she was a beautiful woman, She had no resouces to tell her it was ok to do what she dreamt of. I did finally after about three months of talking to her, ask her if she wanted anything different than what she was doing. She broke down crying that day and replied that I was the first person to come along and want to just hear her dreams. I lost contact with her a few weeks later because she just up and disappeared. I worried that one of her clients had hurt her but not knowing her real name I was at a loss as to how to find her. Then last year I was shopping with a friend and I approached the counter I saw a clean and smiling woman who looked like the street walker only happier. I looked at her name tag and it said "Shelly" I smiled at her handing her my purchases. She finished ringing me up and then smiled again and said "Thank you Shadoe...." I had not said my name nor did I ask about her for fear of one of her co-workers being judgemental. I nodded and said Goodbye. I have been back to the store a few times and she always seems happy now a days. I just hope that she is doing good. I agree with so many comments here. In fact I have thought often and deep about the difference. Anyway you look at it, we are all 'prostitutes' in some form, whether it be to our chosen career, our family responsibilities, our hobbies or our sexual interests. Just because we don't all pay or get paid monetary compensation means nothing, life is about exchange...verbal, emotional, physical and material. Without those, we wither and die inside...so it matters not what you are selling in life...someone needs/wants what you have to offer and those that snub others are simply the ones without the "cajones " to do what they really want for fear of what others think!

I once did a photo essay on prostitution when I was in school, and was surprised at the response those photos generated. Just bout every woman from my Mother on down just ask that I never sale the pictures to a news paper. Almost all used exactly the same words. "You never know why or what caused these woman to do what they do; so always be respectful of them". Thats the way I feel bout it myself, and if you dont like what you see here at Rude dont come to the link.
On the flip side I have to say that if I pop into someones room here at Rude lets say. If the person is all bout tips and or only in the Live Private Show area then they are Pro's. I still feel respect is the word of the day where these woman are concerned, but they are pros just the same.

People's insecurities cause them to judge others. Whether you have sex for money or not your still having sex. The fact that ppl come to rude shows that they're looking for a way to express themselves sexually by either watching or being watched. In my book there is nothing wrong w/ that whether you are getting paid or not. Sex is a form of self expression. Yes, there are ppl that may exploit that through "human trafficking" and forced prostitution. But all others that act in their own free will should have the right to do so w/o judgement. If ppl have a problem w/ what's on rude then they have absolutely no business being here.

I'm of the mind that the naysayers are primarily hypocrits, as many of these people are merely projecting their own issues and concerns. There are many forms of prostituting one's self. How many wives, girlfriends, etc. play the "hold out" game to gain money, wealth, power, fame, or just the upper hand, "If he does what I want, then I might give him some!?!" It's not sttreet walking, but the principles are the same. How many men buy gifts, go on trips, write poetry all in the hopes of gaining favor or even sex from a woman, even if he doesn't actually have an emotional attachment? Should sports figures also be considered prostitutes? They are picked on their physicalities, they perform on demand, they only get paid as long as they can perform, they have to wear what they are told, they can be bought, traded, sold, they are forced to adhere to a different standard of behavior publically and privately, their importance is based on performance and payscale, they have an agent that goes out to find them more work, much like a "pimp", and in many cases they live a life of pleasure and leisure, that the average person has no idea about. In the workaday world, as far as I know, no one works via telepathy. LOL How many people jump through hoops or even have sex with a person, just to get a job or to even maintain their place of employment? No money exchanged directly, but you won't get, if you won't give!!! Employers expect to see a body in the workplace. Your face, body, dress, demeanor, etc. are a part of how one gets employed and in most cases is also dictated to you, as company policy, whether you're an entertainer or the President... There more than enough studies to show that physical appearance takes presidence over actual knowledge and skills. If not for the laws to prevent discrimination and sexual harassment, what would people really try to get away with? LOL At the same token, one must ask, if you are a consumer of adult entertainment products and/or services of any kind, from mags, to HBO, to flix, to online sites, does that make you a "trick"??? Is it worse to be a purchaser rather than being a producer and/or private contractor of adult products and/or services??? Basic capitalist philosophy says that it's all about "supply and demand"... Why does this way of thinking stop at human sexual behavior? Why does there have to be a judgement value either way?!? ...Butt hey, datz juz' me... ;) |

In all ways meeting with people or diddling them from a computer makes for a widening of the definition of the word "prostitute". Am I a whore for doing what I do? Is it wrong? To dis people (cos its not just women) for providing a service is plain wrong. You may as well have a go at barmen. They both provide a service to people that is often much closer than their nearest and dearest. OK, they probably arent at the top end of the social scale (but some are) but they can be as invaluable as psychotherapists - in their own way. Of course, some people just have no self-esteem and the only way they can justify themselves is to drag others down. Politicians and bankers, now theres a real target group (apart from the ones on here who are obviously normal human beings!) |

Not having visited a prostitute myself it's hard to speak the truth, so I can only say what I assume to be right
my understanding is that some prositutes, due to something happening in their lifes they find themselves in a position that they need to turn to prositution to make ends meet.
Some are forced into it with trafficing etc, and others by choice
What ever the reason we have no right to take the high moral ground be it on rude or not
As for people on rude...... there are some here who will bitch, winge and more about anything and everything - if we could convert that effort and energy used into Electricity, we could solve the worlds energy problems over night lol
I work in an industry where some people love it, and others are very critical, including the press etc. I used to waste time and effort trying to please everyone, but now I just please myself........but thats another story lol |
