To Love, Not Hate

I wrote this a month ago just a few thoughts on something important to a Lot of people!
Apparently Im in the mood to rant some. I have a bone to pick! Those of you out there who believe that Prop 8 was a good idea (this includes the newest states to ban gay marriage!!) Where do you get off trying to dictate how others can live their lives? What makes you so wise and all-knowing that you can say only men and women should be able to get married? Let me ask you a question Way back when, before you asked your husband or wife if they wanted to marry you, did you think you were worthy? Did you for a second question if they would say yes or no? Okay, so now you remember that time. Did you think, wow, I hope I can get married without people trying to pass a law to stop me?
No? Then you were lucky. I know that a lot of misinformed people out there believe that love should be and is limited to a woman and a man. But, guess what? Its NOT. Life is not black and whiteIt never was! When you were younger, your parents or maybe even you, were fighting for your rights... Your right to assemble peacefully. Your right to burn your bra because if you dont feel like wearing one, why should you have to. Your right to live your life the way you choose to. So what exactly gives you the right to say what someone elses rights are? This is the part where you say that being gay or lesbian is a sin in the eyes of God, right? Well, guess what. Im a Christian and Im bisexual. I dont for one second believe that my God, the God of love (God is love, right?) would hate me or condemn me because I am able to love both a man and woman! If anything, He would encourage loveof all kinds.
You hide behind your Bibles and your holier-than-thou soapboxes, spouting that being gay is wrong. That gay people dont love, they only lust. That is wrong. Ive known more than a few gay couples that love and they love fully. They love better than some heterosexual couples that I have known. What gives you the right to say that they are confused sexually or perverted?
When you were in school, the big thing was girls of one race dating guys of another. Right? Now it seems everybody but other sexually inclined have their rights. Why is it not okay for the gay, lesbian, and transgendered to not have those same rights? The right to love who they choose and marry who they love?
Did you know that as of right now, gay and lesbian couples dont have the right to visit their dying loved ones and partners in the hospital? Because they arent recognized by the law as being worthy of the same rights as heterosexual couples? How is that fair? Why is it so easy to believe that they dont deserve all those same privileges and government-sanctioned rights? Is it because theyre different? That is NO reason for the LGBT people to not have the same rights as anybody else!!
Get off your God-fearing, Bible thumping soapboxes and blog sites. Quit spouting all that hate and bigotry! Quit teaching your kids and family members to fear the different and misunderstood. Believing that they are wrong and sick is the same thing as believing that the world is still flat! The explorers and discoverers of long past proved the known world wrong then. You will be proven wrong yet!!
