I Don't Usually Do This...But I Have To

I try to save my Rude blog for videos information and whatnot. But this time I find myself lost in thought... Patrick Swayze passed away yesterday and I felt compelled to share why I am in a mourning state at the moment. When I first saw Patrick Swayze, it was in Ghost back in 1990. I saw it in theaters with my folks. Ironically, the movie I really think of when I do/did pause for a moment, it was Dirty Dancing later that year, even though DD came out 3 years earlier than Ghost. I was young and boycrazy. So it was no surprise when I developed a heavy crush on him. He was the man who could do everything..He danced, due to professional training earlier in his life, he sang, and he acted. He was a triple threat. Well, he was also very sexy and he had the ability to make you pay attention.
And now he is missed. He will be remembered for playing Johnny Castle in Dirty Dancing, at least to me. I've seen other movies that he did but none of them made a big impression on a much younger Crissy. I still count him as one of my favoritest actors. Yes, I know that favoritest is not a real word. It's just how I feel. I've spent the last 40 minutes watching clips from Dirty Dancing..the night he and Baby spent together, when he was teaching her how to dance, the finale of the movie that always brings up tears and a lump in my throat. I was speechless when I re-watched the performance he and his life Lisa did back in 1994 at the World Music Awards. It was pure poetry.
I know all the words of DD by heart and I even danced with my date to She's Like the Wind at my senior prom. So yes I can point to different points in my life where his presence was there, even if only slightly as I did leave my young girl crushes behind as I grew up. But they are still there nonetheless.
I can't leave out the dance off on SNL with long gone Chris Farley either. I found myself laughing hard at a clip I have seen too many times to count.
You can call me a fangirl if you want. That's fine. Well, I've shared as much as I care to right now. I'm checking when DD will be shown on my HD movie channels and yes I plan on watching it, with a smile...
