Permanent Residency

PERMANENT RESIDENCY
OMG The day has finally come. I received in the mail today my Permanent residency ID card -(green card). I am now officially a resident of the United States of America!!! I can't believe it, I'm so happy I'm crying as I write this. I can finally call America home.
Thank you to all those that have supported us along the way. It was a long hard road but so worth the journey.

Welcome to the USA. Yes, a nation of immigrants. I'm first generation French. My mother-in-law has English blood that goes back to the Revolutionary War and Scottish blood around 1820. Guess that is where my wife's Red hair is from. I love the Gingers...lol |

Time to Move

WoW - It's almost that time !!
Hi All
Well its almost time to make my life changing move. I sit here surrounded by boxes taking a break from packing up my belongings and getting rid of things Iv'e managed to accumulate over the last 50 years. What do I take and what do I leave behind and what do I get rid of ? decisions decisions..I want to bring so much but I know I don't have enough room or can afford the extra charges for the extra baggage.
I have but 10 days and 12 hours till I fly out of the UK and only another 8 days in this house. My emotions are all over the place. I will be sad to leave behind my family and friends but happy that Dave and I will finally be together forever. Its been a hard long road to get where we are but we have kept the faith and now our dreams are about to come true. I am happy, excited, anxious, stressed, tired, emotional but not a bit nervous. I have waited so long and now I just want to be in the arms of the man I love so much and want to spend the rest of my life with.
Sorry my time on Rude has been sporadic and I apologise for not posting any content for a while, I just haven't had the time to edit and sort it out and Dave who edits my videos and watermarks them for me is just as busy- preparing PervCentral for my arrival and a space for my daughter who is making the journey with me.
My internet will be turned off on 20th August and at the moment I do not know where I will be spending my last few days in the UK - maybe my brother, my friends or even a hotel so I may or may not have internet. But don't worry as soon as I arrive in America - you will all know about it. I will be online at PervCentral as soon as I can to let you all know I have arrived safely.
Goodbye UK - Hello America

The American Embassy

THE AMERICAN EMBASSY - 9 JUNE 2010
Well it was finally time to get a decision. After months of getting paperwork together, petitioning, supplying evidence, getting police checks done and photographs taken and finally the medicals, it was time to make the trip to London to the American Embassy for the visa interview.
Tuesday dinner time - a 15 minute walk t to the local station to make a trip to Liverpool. While waiting for the train to take us to London, sat in the station a white feather floated down to our feet, where from we have no idea. They do say that finding a white feather is the sign of an angel watching over you, I think I believe that now. Anyway I digress - On the train and we are off. A 2 hour journey. My daughter and I passed the time amusing ourselves people watching and marvelling at hairstyles and fashion accessories. We arrive at Euston and the driver actually apologised for being 2 minutes early lol. Taxi ride later he drops us at our hotel only one problem, apparently there are 2 Travelodge Hotels in Kings Cross - we arrived at the wrong one and had to walk down the road to the right one- just a 5 minute walk - no problem. Booked in to a very comfy room - collapsed on the bed lol and contacted Dave to let him know we made it ok. Later on we went down for a very nice Tikka Massala before retiring exhausted to bed.
Wednesday - Alarm woke me at 6am. Ok now the nerves are really kicking in. Showered and hair dried (sorry no shower cam - you will see why in a bit). Couldn't face breakfast and in any case by the time my daughter managed to wake herself up it was time to leave. The appointment was for 9am but first we had to negotiate rush hour traffic in London. We arrive at the Embassy at 8.30. Now the thing about the American Embassy is that after 911 they are very security conscious as you can imagine, so no one can take in suitcases mobile phones, keys etc. I had heard that a local Pharmacy took in the bags and kept them secure for a small charge. So after enquiring with a Policeman at the Embassy we located said Pharmacy and deposited the bags, mobiles etc.(now you see why no laptop- didnt want to risk losing it) and made our way back to the Embassy and joined the queue outside awaiting entry.
The Security Guard checked our interview letter then we were ushered in to a check point to have my handbag x-rayed and we had to walk through a metal detector like at the airport. Armed Police officers surrounded the building On entering the Embassy we were given a number and told where to wait, along with about 500 others. Two hours later we were called up to a window where the Consulate Officer checked through our paperwork, took our fingerprints, checked our photos and birth certificates etc. We were then told to go pay the visa fee - $700 and returned the receipt to her. Then back to our seat to await the interview. Ok now the nerves are really kicking in - this is it- the big one- omg tummy was flipping, felt sick and numb.
My name is called and we head to another window were the officer was waiting. He again checked our fingerprints then asked us to raise our right hands and swear we were telling the truth. He asked me how long I had known Dave, if we had been to America or if he had been here. I had to sign my name and print Dave's. He asked my daughter what she does here and then told me he had read through my file and evidence and that he had no problem issuing the visa - just like that - 2 minute interview - then he said ' Welcome to America' damn omg I cant believe it.
We then had to take the form to the courier service - paid the fee and we were free to go. The visa should be with us within the week. Once outside - the tears and hugs - Im so happy I cant tell you how relieved I feel - all the stress has gone. - Back to the Pharmacy to pick up the bags and make the important call to Dave who was waiting up for our call. Then the texts started from family and friends. Took me a while to answer them all.
Taxi time again back to the Euston station. Our train was set to leave at 2.40pm. But a hitch - the train before was cancelled because some guy decided to throw himself in front of a train causing all sorts of delays and cancellations. The passengers from the earlier train were put on our train - some people had to sit in the aisles cos of lack of room;. Then after travelling about half an hour the driver announces we have been diverted because of the incident and will be arriving at our change over point an hour late hence causing us to miss our connection. We are told at the station that our ticket is still good and to make the next train on platform 11 - a few minutes before the train arrives we are told to change platform to platform 6 so about 40 people then end up all making there way across the station lol - what a day. Finally we arrive back in Liverpool and get the tickets for home - last train and a short walk - finally home but late for the Shortbus show. What a welcome home. Everyone was happy for us in the show and Dave even showed a video ( you can see it at the bottom of this blog) It hadn't really seemed real till I saw the video - brought tears to my eyes. I still can't believe it.
So now all I need to do is pack up here and get the flight tickets - which may take a couple of months but I hope not - but as we are both short on ready cash at the moment we will have to build up the funds a bit first.

SO EXCITED !!!!!!!

What a fantastic morning. RudeMcP and I have been planning my trip in May for a few weeks now - checking out flight prices and dates etc.
Well this morning he says to me 'guess who is going to Switzerland?' who I says and he says 'you !' Well you can imagine I was a bit taken aback by this cos I thought we were planning me going to see him in USA.
Turns out the flight is booked, Im on my way but with a stop over at Zurich. For the plane enthusiasts I will be flying in a fokker and an Airbus.
 The Airbus 330-200
 The Fokker 100
Well now I am really excited and cant wait to see the snow covered Alps from the window of the plane as well as the excitement of flying to see the man I miss most of all and love more than anything for a whole 10 days.
While I am there we have plans to meet up with some other Rudeonians lol BJMature for a jello fight, and Photobuff too, hopefully with some great pics. We plan on lots of shows and will be in house too during the 10 days so lots of opportunities to see us together.
For those who know from our previous trips - you will know that the countdown clocks have started and as I write this the clock says 54 days and no I wont tell you how many hours mins etc - we dont want you all turning up at the airport lol
So now my jaw aches from all the smiling and McP needs his sleep cos he didnt get any after booking the flight cos he was so excited and i didnt sleep too good either thinking about what to pack, yes I know its 54 days away yet but I cant help it - maybe its a girl thing lol
